Treasures of the Rare Books Room - Design in Nature
In 1931 the School of the Art Institute and the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago joined together to create a great educational resource – Research: Design in Nature. Students from the Art Institute went to the Field Museum on a regular basis for classes. Author John Gilbert Wilkins states that the students’ “work is so planned as to lead the untrained eye gradually into the hidden secrets of the Fairy Land of Nature.” This is true for both the artists and the viewers of these fine drawings.
Please stop by the Art, Music and Recreation Room to see more of these beautiful drawings. This book is part of our reference collection and cannot be checked out.
