Tax season is upon us!
It's that time of year where once again the Ready Reference phone lines are ringing off the hook, with callers having only one thing on their minds.
Taxes!
Milwaukee Public Libraries will set out all available tax forms after the Martin Luther King holiday on January 19th. We can't promise that all forms will be available on the 20th (we are dependent on the Federal and State governments for our supplies), but we can promise that as soon as we get the forms, we will make them available. And while the libraries do not provide assistance in filling out forms, we can connect you with the folks that can.
Free tax assistance is available through the Social Development Commission's VITA tax program. Sites for this year have yet to be announced (in fact, they are still seeking volunteers), but once they are, that information will be available at your Milwaukee Public Library, or by calling Ready Reference at (414) 286-3011.
