10 Millionth Patent
10 Millionth Patent
On June 19th, 2018 the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued its 10 millionth patent since opening in 1790. The USPTO put together a website dedicated to this milestone, which includes a historic timeline of the office’s history as well as some of the most famous inventors and inventions over the past several centuries.
The Milwaukee Public Library is a Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC), which means we have a variety of resources available to inventors, including a comprehensive print collection of patents and a quarterly class on how to search the U.S. Patent Databases. We also have books of interest to inventors which can be checked out with your Milwaukee County library card, such as How to Make Patent Drawings or Patents for Beginners.
If you have questions about patents, contact the PTRC located in the Business Technology, and Periodicals Department at the Central Library: 414-286-3051. You can also visit the PTRC at the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI, 53233, or check out our guide to Patent and Trademark resources online.
