Three separate events on Thursday, January 22nd will showcase Wisconsin's culinary and brewing history. They are part of the Wisconsin Historical Society's Wisconsin History Tour, which includes an interactive multimedia exhibit currently on display at Central Library.

Learn about the historic cooking classes and one-of-a-kind gardens at the Society's Old World Wisconsin Historic Site. Participants will take a garden and food tour through photos, plants, and flavors from Old World's ethnic gardens and meals, with a chance to get up close and personal with our plant friends. Presented by Old World Wisconsin staff Marcia Carmichael, Historic Gardens Coordinator, and Karl Kaphengst, Foodways Coordinator.

Explore the "taste of place" with chef and cookbook author Therese Allen as she shares the history-and recipes-for some of the foods that have made Milwaukee and Wisconsin famous. Attendees will take home a traditional Milwaukee recipe to try from Allen's Society Press books The Flavor of Wisconsin and The Flavor of Wisconsin for Kids! Presented by chef and author Therese Allen.
History Happy Hour at Historic Pabst Brewery - 5:30PM, Blue Ribbon Hall, Best Place at Historic Pabst Brewery, 901 W. Juneau Ave.
Join Wisconsin History Tour Coordinator Mary Jane Connor and "Bottoms Up" author and historian, Jim Draeger, at the Blue Ribbon Hall at Best Place for a speakeasy history happy hour. Yak it up over some vintage cocktails, take mug shots in our photo booth and decorate your own 1930s tie or flapper headband. The activities are free, but the hooch is not! Signed copies of the Society Press’s best-selling book Bottoms Up: A Taste of Wisconsin’s Bar & Brewing History will be available for purchase.
