Milwaukee Public Library, MLK Branch Library Redevelopment

The City of Milwaukee acting through the Board of Trustees, Milwaukee Public Library (Board) is seeking bids for all labor and material required for the Martin Luther King Branch Library Redevelopment project as described within the scope and details of the bid documents.

Innovative, successful, and community-focused entrepreneurs are invited to submit proposals for a six-week Entrepreneur Residency with the Milwaukee Public Library. Working collaboratively library staff, the MPL Entrepreneur-in-Residence will develop and lead public workshops and offer one-on-one mentoring to support and educate entrepreneurs while helping build an ecosystem that develops, sustains and grows future entrepreneurs in Milwaukee.

The Entrepreneur-in-Residence will facilitate a minimum of six workshops during the length of the residency, host 4 hours per week of one-on-one mentoring appointments and collaborate with library staff to develop book lists and marketing materials for the residency. The Entrepreneur-in-Residence will be housed in the Business Commons @ Central Library, a unique co-working space in Milwaukee Public Library’s Central Library.

Entrepreneur-in-Residence Stipend: $2,600

Residency Dates: six weeks in May-June 2024, resident must be available to collaborate on program development at least two weeks prior to the start of the residency

Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Details:

  • Six-week residency between May-June 2024, $2,600 stipend
  • EIR will lead a minimum of six workshops or events
  • EIR will host weekly office hours (4hrs/week) in the Business Commons @ Central Library

EIR Required Qualifications:

  • Committed to developing Milwaukee’s small business community by mentoring and inspiring new entrepreneurs
  • Three or more years of successful business experience • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven record of starting a successful small or medium-sized business in the Milwaukee area
  • Experience evaluating business ideas and plans EIR Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual English and Spanish or American Sign Language Deadline to submit proposals is March 22, 2024.
