Milwaukee Public Library Closing for Labor Day Weekend By Jennifer P on Aug 21, 2014 8:43 AM Labor Day in New York City, 1882. All city of Milwaukee libraries will be closed on Friday, August 29th for a designated city furlough day. Additionally, all city libraries will be closed Saturday, August 30th through Monday, September 1st for the Labor Day holiday. All city of Milwaukee libraries will re-open at their normal times on Tuesday, September 2nd. While the library is closed, feel free to check out our many digital collections, like the recently released World War I Military Portraits Collection. The collection has more than 32,000 portraits and service records compiled by American War Mothers of Milwaukee County. Along with all the other available digital collections, there's more than enough content to keep you busy until the library reopens on Tuesday.
