Episode VI: The Return of the Green Sheet
It was just a year ago that we here at the Milwaukee Public Library hosted a program with Dan Chabot about the old Green Sheet in the Milwaukee Journal. So color us pleasantly surprised when the Journal Sentinel announced that they were bringing it back! It might not look exactly right, it might not feel exactly right yet, but it's like seeing an old friend again. Sure, they've changed with the times and they have to apply a thick layer of ink just to look a little bit like they did twenty years ago, but it's still got the heart of what made the Green Sheet great.
As for remembering the heyday of the Green Sheet, well, we've plenty of options. You can check out our digital Remember When photo collection from the comfort of your own internet connection, or check out a great book about them from your local library branch. If you want to check out a compilation of Ione Quinby Griggs' columns, we've got those at the downtown library. There's also a compilation of Jerry Kloss' Slightly Kloss-Eyed that is definitely worth the read. To cap it off, why not check out The Milwaukee Journal: an Informal Chronicle of its First 100 Years, which covers way more than just the Green Sheet, but is definitely worth the time.
