The Teen Summer Challenge is open to ages 13-18

How to Participate

Step 1

  • Visit any Milwaukee Public Library or sign up at mpl.beanstack.org to get started. You can also download and print a tracker here. [EnglishSpanish]
  • Make sure to stop by the library to choose a free book and for opportunities to get creative and discover something new this summer.

Step 2

  • Earn points by tracking your reading and learning! Complete an activity, get a point. you can mix and match activities. Repeats allowed. Every point counts toward your summer goal.
  • Suggested Activities:
    • Read for 30 minutes
    • Visit a branch of the Milwaukee Public Library
    • Take a photograph that tells a story about you or your community
    • Try out a photography workshop at your favorite Milwaukee Public Library branch.
    • Explore LibraryNow.org to access library resources where you are.
    • Find more activities at mpl.beanstack.org

Step 3

  • Check in at your favorite branch to share your progress and to receive great reading recommendations throughout the summer.

Step 4

  • Complete the program by earning 30 points!

Important Dates

Thursday, June 1         1st day to sign up in person or online and begin tracking

Thursday, Aug. 31       Last day to track your progress and pick up a new book at MPL 
                                        to take home.
