The Wisconsin Concert Poster Digital Collection includes posters advertising a variety of concerts, most of which took place in the early 1980s in and around Milwaukee. This collection highlights an important era in Milwaukee music history, when bands such as the Violent Femmes were getting started and playing in various venues throughout the area. Other bands represented in the collection include Die Kreuzen, Couch Flambeau, Einstein’s Riceboys, and many others.

There are many other concert posters from the Milwaukee area that the library does not own and was not able to add to the collection. You can view some of these at our Wisconsin Concert Poster Flickr Group, and you can also add your own images to the group.

If you have questions about the digital collection or Flickr group, please contact the Digital Projects Librarian at DigitalLibrary@milwaukee.gov.

The physical collection resides in the Richard E. & Lucile Krug Rare Books Room. If you wish to view it, contact the Art, Music, and Recreation Department at 414-286-3000. Information about other posters in the library’s collections, including some other concert posters, can be found here.
