Milwaukee Must Reads: City of Neighborhoods at Virtual

Tuesday, February 16, 2021 - 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Audience: Adults

Categories: Book Club/Discussion, Virtual

Read where you are, take an adventure somewhere new in this Milwaukee-focused book discussion series. Register here: City of Neighborhoods is the most comprehensive account of grassroots Milwaukee ever published. For our discussion we will focus on the Menomonee River Valley chapter (pp 31-45) and the drastic changes to the Valley's landscape since European settlers first set foot in Milwaukee.  What are your memories of the Valley? How has your perception changed over time? If you have time, we encourage you to read the chapters on neighborhoods adjacent to the Valley that are of interest to you as our neighborhoods intersect and impact each other.  Merrill Park - p75;  Pigsville - p85;  Story Hill - p95;  Walker's Point - p341;  Clarke Square - p343;  Silver City - p367;  We are sure to have a lively discussion based on your experiences of these Milwaukee neighborhoods!  Visit the Eventbrite registration page for more details and resources.  More to Come:  This is the second book discussion in the Milwaukee Must Reads series sponsored by Historic Milwaukee, Menomonee Valley Partners, the Milwaukee Public Library, and Boswell Books. Join us in March as we explore The Notorious Life of Dirty Helen Cromwell and her spectacular reputation right here in Milwaukee.
