Mission Statement
The Milwaukee Public Library provides materials, services and facilities for all citizens of Milwaukee and others in order to meet present and future informationalneeds and raise the level of civilization in Milwaukee.
Why are we inviting you to these community meetings?
We need to look at different ways to provide the best library service and products to the
residents of Milwaukee, while identifying
efficiencies of service.
The Milwaukee Public Library remains committed to
providing the best library service for the City of
Milwaukee that its citizens can afford.
You are the library’s valuable customer.
Your ideas, suggestions and input are valuable.
In determining the future of libraries in Milwaukee, we
want to include you in our vision as we:
- Expand traditional concepts of library service
- Examine the current needs of library users
- Evaluate our fiscal responsibility to future generations
To prepare for the future, Milwaukee Public Library needs to receive feedback from our
customers on a new vision for library service.
The library is very important to its citizens, ranking fourth in importance in all city services behind only police, garbage collection, and fire services. Milwaukee Public Library needs to be proactive in developing a new library service less dependent on city funding.
