Thank you, Goodnight by Andy Abramowitz

Wouldn’t it be great if we could go back and change the direction of our lives?  Have you ever wondered what legacy you’re leaving behind?  Is life just to live?  Is there anything worse than saying “if I only….?”

Teddy Tremble is an attorney living a mundane life.  His girlfriend is so-so.  He’s in his late 30’s and everything is hunky-dory if not a little boring.  Teddy used to be the lead singer and songwriter for his band Tremble, who had a major hit in the 1990’s.  Then he blew it.  He fell in love with his bass player and his jealousy destroyed the band.

After seeing an embarrassing photo of himself in an art museum display, Teddy reflects on the wreck he’s made of his dreams and decides to change the direction of his boring life.  He reforms the band!  They totally rock!

If this sounds like the plot of a 1980’s rom-com you wouldn’t be wrong, but it’s more than that.  Thank you, Goodnight is about believing in yourself as you age.  It’s about realizing that the people you love are usually right in front of you if you open your eyes and see.  It’s about listening to your inner voice instead of what others say.  It’s about a confused man who rights his own ship.  It’s about humanity.

Besides, everybody should have a crazy guitarist friend who refuses to grow up!  I know I do…..
