All city of Milwaukee Public Libraries will be collecting new and gently used children's books as a part of the United Way of Greater Milwaukee's Reading Blitz campaign. Please place donated books in the United Way drop box located at each library. The United Way is also looking for volunteers to donate time, and spend an hour reading with local youth. They are hosting events at several places throughout the city. To register to read to children, please visit the United Way's website.

The donation boxes for children's books will be in place until March 24th. You can help us celebrate that day by attending a special event featuring Marc Brown, creator of the popular Arthur children's book and television series. The event will be held at Centennial Hall, and starts at 3:30PM. Registration for this event is required, so please reserve your spot on the United Way's website. Full event details are listed below.

WHERE: Centennial Hall (attached to the Central Library), 733 N. 8th Street
WHEN: Tuesday, March 24th, 3:30PM for registration and reception, program from 4:00PM to 5:30PM.
