There is so much to discover at the Milwaukee Public Library! The Business, Technology and Periodicals Department is the largest subject department at the Central Library.
Through the Business, Technology and Periodicals Department you can discover:
- How to start a new business by researching your business competitors, creating a business plan, or accessing our free 6-week courses through Gale Courses.
- Patents for plants, products, and designs.
- Resources to help you reach your personal finance goals.
- Historical newspapers: learn about how Milwaukee through the ages or view a copy of the newspaper on the day that you were born!
- Free access to our 64 computers (desktops and laptops) as well as a conference room space in the department. A computer lab is also available and is open to the public for daily use and for Drop-In Job Help.
Already have a small business? Get a library card for your business. If your business is located in Milwaukee, then this card will allow you to check out business-related materials and have access to our subscription databases like Reference Solutions.
